Please help me understand what makes a bedding product Organic or Green?

There are many definitions of “organic” and “green” in the world today, but I can explain what we do at White Lotus Home and why our products are both organic and green! Green generally refers to something being environmentally friendly and social conscious. Our products are handmade in the USA, so there is no big factory that emits greenhouse gasses and they are not shipped halfway around the world to get to many of our customers. Also, we use natural ingredients such as cotton, wool and buckwheat in our bedding- these things will all biodegrade when you are done with them, unlike synthetic materials found in many other mattresses, pillows and bedding. Additionally, some of the cotton we use is leftover from the thread and textile industry- cotton that would otherwise not have a use unless we made mattresses out of it. Most of our products have no added chemicals, which is healthier for you and better for the earth in general. The fact that our products are handmade from natural ingredients is the main reason that we consider our bedding to be “green.”


Organic refers to how an agricultural product is grown, harvested and processed. Under organic farming methods, no synthetic fertilizers or pesticides are used. Likewise, when an organic product is processed, no additional chemicals are added. At White Lotus Home, we offer organic cotton mattresses, pillows, toppers and duvets, plus all of our pillows are made with organic cotton fabric on the outside. We also use 100% organic buckwheat for our pillows. Although not all of our products are organic, we are able to make most of our products with 100% organic materials if you would like.
