The Difference Between a Green & Organic White Lotus Home Mattress

All Dreamton & Vegan Mattresses are available in the Green Cotton or Organic Cotton options. Green Cotton is like buying fruits from a local farm while Organic Cotton is like buying fruits from Whole Foods Market and the likes.

What is GOTS-Certified Organic Cotton? 🌿It is where cotton gets its degree, GOTS-certified organic cotton is held to the highest standards for health and sustainability. The core of most of our mattress options are hand made of endless fluffy layers of 100% pesticide-free US grown GOTS Certified organic cotton raised sustainably, from our farms to your bed. Pesticide and insecticide free, 100% natural and biodegradable, safe for sensitive skin, firm, yet soft, consumes 91% less water to grow than regular cotton and protects farmers from pesticide exposure.

What is Green Cotton? 🌱A more affordable option to our organic cotton, our conventionally grown Green Cotton is grown in the United States — it just isn’t certified organic. This more affordable material is slightly firmer than organic cotton, but the real beauty is in what it doesn’t have: NO dyes, NO perfumes & NO flame retardants. Grown by farmers right here in the US, Green Cotton is a fabulous cost-saving material that doesn’t put you in contact with harmful chemicals typically found in cotton.

Picky Millennials Might Be Saving the Planet

How Today’s Everything Buyers Are Forcing Brands to Shape Up (Or Ship Out)

NEW BRUNSWICK, NEW JERSEY, UNITED STATES, March 31, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ -- There is nobody more discerning in modern history than the millennial buyer.

Call him what you will, but today’s late 20’s to early 40s aged buyer is deliberate bordering on the fickle, and it shows. Research shows that more than 63% of purchases made online are made based on user-generated content, ranging from Amazon reviews to unboxing videos on YouTube.

But as the social media takeover gets a new kind of foothold, consumers are exercising an even more potent buyer right: the right to take sales from the companies who don’t give a crap.

The Buyers With the Heart On Their Sleeve

Boomers and Gen-Xers may lament the studious tastes of their generational successors, but the fact is that these buyers are about to make up the majority of the nation’s economic might.

In 2018, millennials were projected to overtake Gen-Xers as the carriers for the single largest buying power in the United States, with an estimated $200 billion in collective annual spending.

But this generation spends its money unlike any other, and if there’s one thing the data shows, it’s that the economic constraints of the highest cost of living in decades hasn’t phased them — they’re living frugally, and still putting their money into purchases from ethical brands.

On average, most millennials spend their time and money in places and experiential purchases that are value aligned, meaning they’re willing (and able) to spend more money on things like organic produce, whereas they might save money by cohabitating with friends or family members.

In most cases, what’s most remarkable about this generation is that they’re 75% more likely to buy from a company whose values align with their own.

Millennials are putting their money where their mouth is, and their mouth is fed up with unsustainable business models that take endlessly from the environment.

Greenwashing Is a Bust

About five years ago, marketing terms like ‘natural’ and ‘green’ would fly enough to give companies a spike in interest for conscientious buyers. Over time however, shoppers opened up to the idea that they were being manipulated, and the game got blown wide open.

It shows tremendous restraint on the part of the buyers to hold out and pay more for ethical brands. Now things like MadeSafe and GOTS-certified are the new standards in eco-validation, and buyers are more aware all the time of ways to identify the frauds and the fakes in the business.

The label-reading generation who elicited so many eyerolls in its early days is in its renaissance of making changes, and the effects are rippling out to wider profit margins in value-aligned industries not seen since the dawn of inflation.

Brands are capitalizing on the response in the best way — by greening their businesses, and creating conscious enterprises that operate as a force for good.

It’s Supply and Demand, Baby

For small companies like White Lotus Home, an eco-friendly bedding supplier, the change is hardly a shocker.

“Today’s businesses have to adapt to the “organic” change and understand that Millennials, and even some Gen Xers, read labels and do their homework before shopping. They’re changing many industries,” says President Marlon Pando.

The homegrown New Jersey based company has just celebrated one of its latest in ethical manufacturing achievements: becoming GOTS certified.

“When I started working for White Lotus Home in 2006, it was good enough for customers to know that we were doing our best to be natural and organic, but now they look for proof beyond marketing, they need facts.

At White Lotus Home, integrity has been key, word of mouth is responsible for over 70% of our business and becoming GOTS was the best next step.”

In 2018, a whopping 85% of purpose-driven brands saw positive revenue growth, compared to the 42% of non-purpose driven brands who saw a DROP in revenue.

The numbers speak for themselves: positive changes might exist in the hands of conscious enterprises like White Lotus Home.

White Lotus Home is a sustainable bedding manufacturer selling mattresses, duvets, pillows, sheets, and more online and in-store at their New Jersey showroom location. They’re committed to producing clean, hypoallergenic environmental change, one mattress at a time.

10 Ways to Improve Sleep!

10 Ways to Improve Sleep!

10 Ways You Can Get Better Sleep

It's 7:00 AM and your alarm goes off. It went off ten minutes ago, but you couldn't pull yourself out of bed. You still feel like you can't, so you hit the snooze button one more time, roll over, and pray your coffee maker was set correctly the night before so you can get some caffeine in your system ASAP.

Sound familiar? When it comes to modern day living, sleep can feel like a scarce commodity. We often go through our days already exhausted right off the starting line.

Sometimes improving the quality of your sleep means making a few lifestyle adjustments and taking a good look at what you're sleeping on every night. Here are 10 ways you can get back to giving your body and mind the rest they need to wake up feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and ready to go in the morning.

  1. Exercise
While exercise is a great way to help relieve any tension, stress, and anxiety that may be keeping you up at night, getting a good work out in can physiologically improve your sleep too. Exercise can trigger longer periods of slow-wave sleep which is the deepest and most restorative phase of sleep you can get each night. Still not enough to get you to the gym? Polls have found that people who exercise regularly, even if they don’t get any more sleep than those who don’t, actually report better quality of sleep which means they wake up feeling better than their non-exercising counterparts. Go break a sweat!

  2. Find the Perfect Pillow
Do you wake up feeling like your neck is stiff in the middle of the night? Maybe your shoulder hurts from laying on it, and you toss and turn frequently. These problems can be solved by finding the perfect pillow. It may take a little experimentation before you find the right fit, but once you do, your body will thank you.

  3. Clean Up Your Diet
It's probably not much of a surprise that the pizza you ate yesterday wasn't sitting well by the time you brushed your teeth before bed. Ditch inflammatory foods, sugar, and anything else that could be causing sleep disturbances like acid reflux and indigestion for a better rest.

  4. Reduce Stress
Feeling a little worried about that project that's due early next week? From work to relationships to difficulties with finances, reducing stress is often easier said than done. You might have to think outside the box a little, but coming up with ways you can change your lifestyle to reduce stress can help rest your mind and relax your body when it's time for sleep.

  5. Cut The Caffeine
No one wants to hear that they should give up their morning java, especially if they're already feeling like they need a jump start. But if you're having sleep trouble, it's important to consider reducing your caffeine consumption, particularly within 6 hours of bedtime. You might not notice a difference right away, but if you dodge caffeine for a few days, you'll probably find you're sleeping better.

  6. Use a High-Quality, All-Natural Mattress
Cheaping out on your mattress purchase means you could be cheating yourself out of some invaluable, high-quality sleep time. When shopping for a mattress, it's important to find one that's made from all-natural materials so that you can avoid any off-gassing from petroleum-based foams that can smell harsh and reduce your sleep quality. To top it off, synthetic fibers like memory foam and polyester make it harder for our bodies to regulate their temperatures. Shoot for mattresses and toppers made out of natural fibers like ecofoam, natural latex, cotton and wool so you can sleep easier and more comfortably.

  7. Consider a Weighted Blanket for Anxiety
If anxious thoughts are keeping you up at night, a weighted blanket might be the perfect fit for you. Weighted blankets work by providing deep pressure touch stimulation without uncomfortable restriction. The deep pressure from the weight of the blanket causes the body to produce serotonin and endorphins all night long while you sleep. Serotonin and endorphins are necessary to help us feel relaxed and calm.

  8. Say Goodbye to Screen Time Before Bed
Studies have found that people who use phones, iPads, light-emitting eReaders and other similar devices at bedtime take longer to fall asleep and have disrupted circadian rhythms. If you're going to read before bed to relax, stick to books and ditch the screen.

  9. Keep Your Bedroom Cool
Don't make it so cold that you're uncomfortable, but research suggests sleeping in cooler environments as low as 66 degrees can help you sleep better.

  10. Reduce Clutter in Your Bedroom
Marie Kondo, author of The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, says "A messy room equals a messy mind". If your sleeping space is cluttered and full of distractions, you might have trouble relaxing and getting to sleep. Clear the clutter and see what happens!

How a Green Bedroom Changed My Life

How a Green Bedroom Changed My Life

Still feeling a little skeptical about how an all-natural mattress can directly improve your daily life? We talk a lot about how going green with your bedding and furniture benefits the environment, but for some, investing in a more natural bedroom hits even closer to home.

This week on the blog, White Lotus Home founder, Elizabeth, shares her incredible story about how switching to all-natural mattresses and bedding changed her life and improved the daily health of her children. She writes:

"My first experience with White Lotus Home products was when my firstborn was 7 years old. He is now 14. He was born very early, at 29 weeks, and only weighed 2 lbs 13 ounces. He spent about 9 weeks in the NICU, including his first Christmas and New Years. It was a very tough time for us all.

At that time, I had not been informed or made aware of the chemicals and toxins in mattresses and bedding, nor the health benefits of pure natural fibers instead of the conventional products we had been accustomed to. That all started to become popular at that time. He is my firstborn, so I made sure to do everything by the book as best as I could. Luckily, a few years later, my brother, Marlon, started to work at White Lotus Home, and that is when we all became more aware of how important our home environment is to our health.

I don't suffer from allergies and neither does my husband, but one day my son got a cold that would not go away. He would wake up with puffy eyes every morning and could not stop coughing most of the day.  After about 2-3 weeks of giving him cold medicines, one doctor decided to test him for allergies. Poor thing was allergic to everything from dogs and cats, to dust and many environmental allergens. Fortunately, Marlon was able to provide us with information on the importance of wool and natural bedding. He explained to my husband and I that wool is a natural dust mite repellant and a natural fire retardant that is also used in mattresses. Marlon suggested we change all of my son's bedding to include wool fibers, so that is what we did.

In a few weeks, he had a wool topper, wool pillows, and a wool duvet. Shortly after that, his mattress was upgraded, and he still uses it now. It was astonishing to me that after all of his bedding was changed to include pure wool, he no longer woke up with a stuffy nose and his coughing pretty much stopped. Ever since then I have made sure our bedding was always natural, and of course my entire home has been transformed into only using natural mattresses, futons, throw pillows, bedding, and natural furniture to ensure we avoid toxins and chemicals in our home.

When my second son was born in 2008 and also decided to join the world earlier than expected at 33 weeks, weighing 4 lb. 15 oz., we were ready for him with his organic cotton and wool crib mattress. I even use his crib mattress as a cushion now on the floor for him to read or watch TV.

Not only do I feel blessed that I was able to learn about natural products at the best time of my life, I continue to learn how to keep toxins out of our home by using plants to help clean the air, natural ways to clean our home, natural soaps and shampoos, and also using essential oils to help keep us healthy.  It has just been a way of life we are accustomed to, and I am glad that now my boys know the importance of keeping harmful toxins out of our home and will hopefully be able to take it with them towards adulthood and do the same with their families. Now that my boys are 9 & 14, I am happy to say that even though they were both born as preemies, I have been able to give them the healthiest life I can. They’ve grown into young boys who are active in sports, healthy, strong, smart, and just amazing to be around."

While we believe very strongly in creating products that are safe for our planet, our mission at White Lotus is to educate the world on the importance of living in a healthier home and the benefits these changes bring to our health.
